Parent should watch out fracture when baby learn walking
There are many fracture cases that baby breaks their bone when they learn to walk in the surgery department. Children are active, but have poor physical stability and balance are the most important reason of these broken bones. They don’t know how to do protection action and posture when they fall down. So they easily break the bone in normal life.

The broken bone type in children usually belongs to greenstick fracture. When should go to the doctor?
A parent should take the child to see a doctor when following symptoms happen after fall down:
- Irritating and crying.
- Unsteady on their feet.
- Foot ache or claudication when walking.
- Local skin redness and swelling.
- Local area tenderness and pain.
- Body shape deformation.

If the treatment goes timely and correctly, the wound and broken bone will heal soon without sequel or deformation. If not, the complication of broken bone will affect physically and mentally development of the child.
According to latest statics, most of the bone breaking is happens in unilateral tibia bone in the new walking child. The fracture site is about 1/3 at the lower end of the tibia. Fractures are common in children aged 1 to 3 years. Most of the children who has broken bone have a calcium deficiency, rickets or malnutrition.
